Running a Hosting Company

When you want to have your own hosting company, you have several options. Each of them has advantages and disadvantages. You should evaluate each of them and decide which is best for you.

  1. Buying a dedicated server, and selling hosting accounts on this server. This may be the most flexible option, but is also most troublesome. You have to create your company’s website, set up order processing, and create a shopping cart for your customers, and so on. You will also have to provide technical support for your users, and you might have to hire some technical staff to help you.
  2. Signing up for an affiliate program with one or more hosting company. This will allow you to sell their hosting services for a certain percentage of total sales. All you need to do is to direct people to hosting provider's website to let them learn about the offer. It's an easy option, but you may not earn as much as with other options.
Buying a reseller hosting account. This is a mix of the above two options. You still need to do some business and technical jobs (such as sales processing) but not as much as if you were hosting everything on your own server. Up-front investments can also be much smaller with this option.
